POTTING MIX - What I use for my indoor plants

Basic Potting Mix [for most indoor plants]

90% Orchid Mix - I use this for most indoor plants.

10% Horticultural Charcoal (assists drainage & helps with bugs)

OR

If the plant requires more moisture, and slower drainage, use:

10% Horticultural Charcoal (assists drainage & helps with bugs)

10% Perlite (assists drainage & improves aeration)

10% Sand (improves drainage, I use course landscaping sand because its cheaper, but you can also use propagation sand)

30% Orchid Mix (contains lots of goodies, and bigger bits to allow it to be free draining, also includes wetting agent and some fertiliser)

40% Mushroom Compost / Ready Plant Veggie Mix from a local sand and soil bulk supply place. This is a blend of 50% mushroom compost and 50% quality soil that we also use to fill our vegetable beds as it is nutrient rich but won’t burn the plants. You can buy it by the cubic metre which is very cost effective, most places will deliver if you don’t have a trailer, and we store ours wrapped in a tarp so we always have some on hand.
